Not a Part of Vote Bank Who Cares To Listen Them?

Before starting the easy I need to highlight o some statistical report regarding the child right in India:
i)                    According to the report of NFHS-III2005-06every 2nd child in India malnourished
ii)                   National dropout rate in elementary level is over 40%(DISE 2011-12)
iii)                 Nearly 45% girls get married before they age of 18 years
iv)                 Only 54% children receive full immunization
v)                  India has Highest child labour population
Okay, do I need to describe we are going through what kind of dismal situation? Actually Ida Indian Government is driven by so powerful politician and they do the politics of vote-banking. Children are not a part of vote-bank, so thinking about them never     electoral outcome. They treat children as the next generation of economically contributing adults. And irony is when the children grow up they vote these leaders.
But we can’t blame Indian constitution there are articles on child right:
i)                    Right to free and compulsory education for all children in 6-11 years age group(article21A)
ii)                   Right to protected from any hazardous employment till the age of 14 years
iii)                 Right to protected from being abused and forced by economic necessities to enter occupation unsuited to their age of strength (article 39€)
iv)                 Right to equal opportunities and facility to develop in a healthy manner and condition in freedom dignity and guaranteed protection of childhood and youth exploitation and against moral and ageist moral and martial abdomen(39(e))
There are constitutional guarantees of opportunity and civil rights, instead of that, millions of children face wide spread deprivation and discrimination. How mean discrimination society does implies in the tag illegitimate child. A child born out of wedlock or of a void or illegal marriage are illegitimate child.
Children pay for the decision taken by the parent and are denied of inheritance, rights. Even worst a child born of rape is stigmatised and treated we ill time both by society ad law. And how the rights (mentioned in constitution) are enforced if we start to analyse step by step we will get the real scenario. Access to health?? Ridiculous question. The health of our children continuous to be a matter of grave concern especially in the era of growing privatisation of health services and the increasing inaccessibility to poor. Plus environ mental pollution degradation lead to a further detoriation of street children health. Suffering from malnutrition and dying of starvation most common news we get in newspapers. In case of education we have already mention the statistics. Precise that most children in India who do get a chance to go to school they usually go to government schools. Most of the Government school are often dirty teacher don’t come on regular basis and if they come they don’t teach well. Pupils don have books or toys of learning age. Common children don’t get excess to few good highly costly privet school. So the picture of education system is equally poor. But there are some non-governmental organisations instead of government who are really doing good and most famous them are smile foundation, plan India children, save the children India, child right India foundation CRY India

But how much they can do if there is no strong pillar of support. Strangely although this is being a major problem few people ache raising voice against it. Any kind of concern for child never can be found in voting agendas from any political party. Other citizens please don’t forget their future adults. And yes respected politicians, don’t forget if they get aware about their fact you are causing many reasons for their spoiled futures, they may forgive you ever. And yeah there going to be a part of vote bank after some years, keep in mind.

Indians Worship Goddess…Girls get Abused Everywhere

There are more than one lakh Goddess, which are worshiped by Indians. Indian citizens worship female Gods but do they really obey woman or girls as child? The irony lies here. The situation of girl child in lower classes resides in pathetic condition. I am here to tell some Incident Published in newspaper some years ago.

Incident1: a girl named saraswati used to live in remote village of Wes Bengal near sundarban region. Her father was a poor fisher man, the only earning member of eight member’s family. He had 8 siblings. She was eldest among them when her age was 14 a flood came to their village and all properties they have was gone away with the water of river. It became harder for her father to feed children, child traffickers always seek chances. Two men went to her father and convinced in a way let his daughter could get a better life if you would agree sell her. He did so. First she had been transferred to brothel near Kolkata, then she had been imported to Mumbai then Dubai. In this intermediate period she have grownup, 25year old. But in 25 her life had ended. He was totally broken and since she had no more usage had been return to her village. Her family who compelled her to enter a profession of sex worker. They tagged her as prostitute and rejected her. Now she is in an NGO. What’s are fault? Can any one answer? Being female child is a fault or born in poor family. Oh, yes, mind it Saraswati is the name of Goddess of Education in Bengal.

Incident2: Even before seeing the sunlight of this world girl child rather female foetuses are never safe, a woman named Kalavati used lived in Uttar Pradesh gave birth to female child successively 3 times her mother in law killed three children successively after their birth. And she is also a woman herself. She worn Kalavati if she wouldn’t give birth to a made child next time there result was going to be very bad. Unfortunately she again became pregnant and her husband to her to determine the sex of foetus and again the foetus was female. That night was the last night of Kalavati, her mother in law burnt her with the foetus in her womb.

Incident3: Assuming the condition of girls in remote villages, don’t assume the city girls are very safe. They are not eve safe at their home there was a 12 year girl single child of her parent’s student of an eminent school of Kolkata, durgapuja was ringing the bell. One autumny afternoon her parents went on shopping left her alone in her home. After returning, they found their Girl Dead and senseless. They instantly took her to hospital. Just before the day she died, she was able to tell her parents who did this. This was eventually more shocking to her parents. Who the criminal was do you want to know? Her own uncle.

We worship Sara Swati, Kali, Laxmi, Durga throughout the passing year. And the irony is girls are not safe even at their home.

Next Generation Adults and Their Basic Rights

Dealing with child right, the first question crosses our mind is who is a child. The term “child” cannot easily be defined. From perspective of Biology, a child is a human between the stages of birth and puberty and from legal perspective ‘child’ generally refers to a minor bellow the age of 14. Since I am focusing on the child right, not going to the deeper levels of different kind of definitions of child. Usually, in literature or in mythology or in holy books, children have been portrayed as beautiful creatures or often we say childhood is the most beautiful stage of our life. But the commonplace scenario is not that beautiful. Firstly there are uncountable number of child who go through hell during their childhood. Secondly childhood was not ever recognised independent social category until beginning f the 18th century. It is only during 20th century the concept of child right emerged, people also felt that child also need to have some definite right for procreating themselves.
The history of children rights dates from the 19th century prior to that there was no particular mechanism to protect the children. In ancient tie and up to the Middle Ages, in some parts of the world parents even had the power of life to death over their children. The realization, child could not be dealt as the same way as an adult, came in last decade of 19th century marked the start for children’s right. History of child Right accelerated in the 20th century. The very first was taken by League of Nations in 1919. They created the committee for the protection of children and after five years this adopted the Geneva Declaration, the first international treaty of children’s right with the motto that motherhood childhood re entitled to special core and assistance and the most important step was of the United Nation’s Child Right in 1959. The decade of 80’s observed a lot of activities by group of NGOs, piloted by BICE and DCI who contributed the preparatory work for convention of rights of child which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.
Now is the time for coming through the point what kind of rights children must have. There are two types of human rights under International Human Right Law-
I)                    So fundamental general human rights as adults
II)                  Special right necessary to protect them during minority. Easy to say the rights are-
a)      Provision having the right for an adequate standard of living health care and provision for playing and recreation
b)      Protection- To get protection from abuse, negligence, exploitation and any kind of discrimination
c)       Participation-participation in communities programmes for themselves including children involvement in libraries, community programme, youth voice activities.
As minors by law they do not have autonomy or the right to make decision for their own for themselves in any known jurisdiction of the world. Their adult care givers, their elders teachers, social workers are vested with the authority. So, to get minimum liberty on their own and the certainty that in the name of elderly care they don’t get abused or exploited child right is important. Society needs to reconsider the way it behaves with children. “It’s the children the world almost breaks who grow up to save it.”[Frank Warren], the best ever sentence justifying Child Right.
